• Talk on SS Wesley by Roger Judd

    This will celebrate the 150th year of SS Wesley's death in 1876 and will be illustrated by organ pieces (Choral Song, Larghetto in F♯ minor, Introduction and Fugue in C♯ minor) and choral works (including Blessed be the God, Ascribe unto the Lord and Thou wilt keep him) sung by Amici Coro, and  will be followed by 'al fresco' refreshments afterwards.  We are delighted to welcome members of Gloucestershire OA to this event,  and friends from other associations are also very welcome.

  • Whitlock/Darke anniversary recital

    Harold Darke's 50th anniversary falls in 2026, but we've partnered with Percy Whitlock whose 80th anniversary also falls this year.  And on the very fine 4 manual organ in Great Malvern Priory. One of our members, Michael Bacon, will also be giving a recital as part of GMP's concert series at 12 noon, so do think of joining us then and over lunch. 

  • Playing visits to two rarely-used Black Country town hall organs

    As part of our support for the BIOS initiatives to identify instruments for their Historic Organs at Risk Register we are organising a playing visit to Walsall Town Hall (originally Nicholson & Lord 1908 IVP64) and Darlaston Town Hall (J J Binns 1903 IIIP33) - both rarely used organs- and Central Methodist Church, Walsall (originally Nicholson & Lord c. 1890 IIIP36). We need to provide an advance list of attendees to Walsall Town Hall - please let James Coupe know if you plan to come.

    Dr Jim Berrow will give an illustrated talk on the gothic revival and organs.  The Church of the Ascension, Malvern Link (known locally as Belmont Cathedral) was built in 1902 in the Early English style,  and is the work of the architect Sir Walter Tapper.
